We harness the power of light to explore the fastest events in nature. Using ultrashort laser pulses lasting mere femtoseconds (one millionth of a billionth of a second), we capture and study processes that happen on timescales where electrons move, chemical bonds break, and new materials properties emerge.
Our research uncovers fundamental mechanisms at the heart of physics, chemistry, and materials science — from tracking electron dynamics in atoms and molecules to observing ultrafast phase transitions in advanced materials. By pushing the frontiers of time resolution, we open new pathways to understanding the microscopic world and developing future technologies.
